Three Filmmaker Finalists Announced for a Year of Mentorship with Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu

Three young filmmakers from across the globe have been
selected as finalists for a year of creative collaboration with Oscar-nominated
director Alejandro González Iñárritu. The finalists hail from Brazil, Hungary
and Israel. They each will be interviewed by Iñárritu, who will select one of
them as his protégé. That selection will be announced in May.

The finalists are:

Fellipe Barbosa, 33, Brazil

Denes Nagy, 33, Hungary

Tom Shoval, 32, Israel

This collaboration comes about via the Rolex Mentor and
Protégé Arts Initiative, which pairs promising talents with world-renowned
veterans in seven artistic disciplines — dance, film, literature, music,
theatre, film, visual arts and architecture. Finalists are selected through a world-wide
search; moreinfo is here

Gonzalez Inarritu recently wrapped production on “Birdman,” starring Emma Stone and Michael Keaton. In December of last year it was reported by Variety the director was in talks to helm “The Jungle Book” for Warner Bros; that was subsequently denied in early January by Deadline.
