Thirty years after his father Ridley Scott directed one of Apple’s first commercials (for the original Macintosh computer), Jake Scott has directed a short film (well, ad) shot around the world in one day using an iPhone 5S to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Mac. The 87-second video, entitled “1.24.14” was shot on Jan. 24, 2014 (thus, the name of the spot) using around 100 iPhones and 15 crews around the world. The team shot more than 70 hours of footage, which was edited on Apple computers (of course!) by a team of 21 editors led by Angus Wall.
The idea was to capture “people doing amazing things with Apple products,” Apple said in its announcement. “To celebrate Mac’s birthday, this film was shot around the world in one day, entirely on iPhone. Here’s to the next 30.”
