Here’s some neat news for cinephiles across the pond. The British Film Institute will be re-releasing Stanley Kubrick’s monumental sci-fi epic “2001: A Space Odyssey” in UK theaters on November 28, 2014. BFI will present the film in a newly burnished digital transfer as part of its 2014 Science Fiction blockbuster project.
If you’ve never seen “2001” on the big screen, don’t miss the chance. Even in the wake of “Gravity” and all its visual wonders, Kubrick’s opus looks heavenly as ever. In LA, it frequently pops up at the American Cinematheque and ArcLight Cinemas.
BFI’s Science Fiction Film blockbuster project will unveil over three months, from October to December, and the presentation of “2001” will be a highlight of a wide-ranging program to be revealed in full this summer.
