‘Jumping The Broom’ Sequel Moving Forward?

'Jumping The Broom' Sequel Moving Forward?

News surfaced last year that a sequel to the 2011 romantic comedy was in the works, and now it looks like it’s finally happening.

We’ve learned that Jumping The Broom 2 is moving forward from Our Stories Films and TD Jakes Productions.

Recall that the original pic starred Paula Patton and Laz Alonso as a couple looking to unite their very different families over a wedding weekend on Martha’s Vineyard.

This time around, the story is set in New York City, also with “two very different families” who come together for a wedding weekend.

Elizabeth Hunter, who penned the original movie, is attached as writer and producer, with Tracey Edmonds and TD Jakes producing and DeVon Franklin overseeing for Sony Pictures.

No word yet on whether Salim Akil will return to direct this film as he did the last. There’s also no word yet on cast, and based on the plot description, it’s uncertain whether any of the actors from the original film will be involved.

But for now, it seems the film is coming back in some form or another. So what say you? Are you looking forward to Jumping The Broom 2?

Yes I would like to see a sequel

I would love to see part 2, but Laz needs to be in it!!!!! Thank you!!!

New story please.

We appreciate your thinking of us, but we'll pass. –Smart Black People Everywhere

The aesthetics were on point, but the acting of the leads, histrionics in the script and predictability were disappointing. I was glad to see a non-Tyler production make it to the screen, but I wonder if Jakes kept the story from being more believable and complex.

No . . . one was quite enough

No thanks, I'll be sitting this one out, just as I did the previous one.

the first one was pretty wack.. but everything isn't for everybody, we all have different tastes, thats the beauty of it, i do wish them luck with the production though!

Is that you twinkie?

I'll leave this one for the ladies.

Jumping the Broom II 'Blurred Lines' Sabrina and Jason break up. Will they get back together…???

Haven't heard of this happening from those involved, though I know they've talked about it.

This movie was mediocrity at its finest. Everybody got paid, nobody cared. Across the board, textbook, B-list, video-store-shelf, non-threatening mush.

Having said that I congratulate all involved on making a living and may I add I'm a big fan of your work.
