Filmed in 13 different cities across the world, (In)visible Cities seeks to document the real life experiences of African Diaspora communities globally.
A collaboration between Congolese investigative journalist Ngalula Beatrice Kabutakapua and Italian filmmaker Angelo Gianpaolo Bucci, the documentary is currently in production, headed next to Istanbul, Brussels, and Los Angeles.
As the filmmakers say, the goal of the project is “to provide an educational tool that will discourage people from creating false assumptions: too often native citizens are likely to assume, without any evidence or direct experience, that neighborhoods in which migrants live are ‘dangerous.’ We call those areas the ‘Invisible Cities’ because the locals are used to turn their eyes elsewhere and pretend to know enough about them.
What motivates us is the belief we can promote a culture of diversity through Invisible Cities and thus contribute to social integration.”
