Watch Episode 1 of That Other AMC Spoof, 'Mad Black Men'

Interesting that these two projects were released around the same time. Earlier this week, we posted about Black Mad Men, a riff on the lack of diversity on AMC’s hit drama Mad Men. From Morgan Evans and Phil Augusta Jackson, the project stars SNL‘s Sasheer Zamata

But as pointed out in the comments of that post, there’s another Mad Men parody that’s been in the works for a while. This one, called Mad Black Men, comes from graphic designer-turned-filmmaker Xavier Ruffin.

The series is described as “a dramedy following three black ad workers as they weave through a racially insensitive 1960s world of advertising trying to keep their eyes on the prize and off the wrong women.”

We posted about the project last September when Ruffin launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund production. And earlier this week, the first of six episodes was released.

Other than the sound in the elevator, I think it was okay. I'll tune in for the next episode. Though I hope they go into on how BLACK WOMEN WERE TOO DISCRIMINATED AGAINST. Not just black men. IJS.

This seems good though. If it well done I'll donate on the next fundraising round. I hope to work for a digital agency after I graduate, btw.

I am Black, I am a director at an Ad Agency, I don't like Mad Men, but I will watch this ALL DAY!

It's the truth. Other than the token folks from The Marcus Graham Project, the advertising industry WILL NOT hire black men. A few years ago, I worked on the sales side of the industry and saw only a handful of brothers on the agency side.

And I only got my job because I have an Anglo Saxon sounding name.

It's very sad. It's no joking matter.
