In case you’ve been living in a cave or avoiding social media, Twitter lit up Sunday night with the news that something Very Dramatic happened on “The Good Wife.” (SPOILER) It turns out that series regular Josh Charles — whose character had serious chemistry with Julianna Margulies–got bumped off after six seasons.
Why? It wasn’t what executive producers Robert and Michelle King wanted. No, Charles pulled a Dan Stevens. Much like the star of “Downton Abbey,” he simply decided it was time to move on with his career. “However much I’ve enjoyed the experience,” Charles explains in an online video, “I was ready for the next chapter of my life both creatively and personally.”
Charles took full advantage of the attendant publicity to make a splash, dropping by Letterman Monday night to discuss his dramatic exit from the series. This is how an actor generates buzz for their career beyond the show for which they’re best known.
