Worried When 'Game of Thrones' Will End? HBO Signs Showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss For Two More Seasons

Season four of “Game of Thrones” premieres on HBO on April 6th, and the hit fantasy series shows no sign of slowing down — in fact, it may end up outpacing the ongoing series of novels by George R. R. Martin on which the show is based.

The drama hasn’t officially been renewed yet, but Entertainment Weekly reports that the premium network has officially rehired showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for two more seasons, meaning a fifth and sixth season are all but certain — not that there was much doubt to begin with.

The duo has done an impressive job of bringing Martin’s sprawling universe to the small screen — they script most of the episodes themselves. “Game of Thrones,” apart from being the most pirated show online, is HBO’s current most-watched series, and the second most popular show in its history, averaging 14.3 million viewers last season across all the network’s platforms.
