Listen up, filmmakers. Film Independent’s signature diversity program Project Involve is now open for submissions. The program, which runs October through June, selects filmmakers from diverse backgrounds and filmmaking tracks — from screenwriters to directors to producers and beyond — as well as those seeking work in acquisitions, marketing, distribution and agencies.
During the nine months, Project Involve Fellows receive one-on-one mentorship, participate in master classes on the craft and business of filmmaking, and work together to create a collection of short films. The program concludes in June when the short films premiere at the LA Film Festival. (Watch the 20th Anniversary PSA below.)
The deadline for submissions is April 28. Project Involve accepts applications in the following categories:
- Filmmaking Tracks: Cinematography, Directing, Documentary, Editing, Producing, Screenwriting (no need for letters of recommendation)
- Industry Tracks: Acquisitions/Distribution, Development, Film Programming
