It’s time to choose March’s Project of the Month. The project
that receives the most votes for Project of the Month will receive a
consultation from our Project of the Month partner, Tribeca Film
Voting will be open until Sunday, April. 6, 2014 at 5 PM Eastern.
The four projects up for the prize are:
Elevator Pitch: Colonial women dealing with contemporary issues. “Girls”
meets M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Village”. Set against the backdrop of
1750s America, the series tells the story of five women whose sinful
pasts threaten to destroy them. Sex, Danger, Violence, and Greed come
together in a wholly original and humorous way in this hysterical piece
featuring the legendary Lori Beth Denberg (yes, from “All That”).
Elevator Pitch: Steve
Zimmer, the central voice of this documentary, has made it his life’s
work to document western culture and cowboy life in and around the small
town of Miami in New Mexico. His creative writing as well as his many
historical biographies provide a glimpse into this unique part of
American history. So too do the lives of his sons Parker and Marshall,
who are seasoned cowboys in their own right. The introspective voice of
Steve will permit the interweaving of his son’s cowboy life in the West,
a life threatened by recent changes in climate and technology.
Elevator Pitch: Lloyd Daniels’s unlikely rise to
the NBA is the stuff that myths are made of: the most sought-after
college basketball recruit of his generation, he got busted buying
cocaine in a police sting operation. Two years later he was almost
killed after getting shot three times in the chest while negotiating an
$8 crack deal. Yet he somehow managed to make it to the NBA without
having played a single college game, with remnants of bullets still in
his body, and with years of crack addiction behind him.
Elevator Pitch: An elderly couple,
cryonically preserved at death, are revived in the distant future. Hugh
and Candace awaken to find their minds and memories are intact, but now
reside inside freshly-cloned, 20-year-old bodies. What unfolds is a
drama, spiked with humor, as the two come to grips with the joys and
challenges of a second life. What will they do with this second chance?
