James Franco To Play 'Ex-Gay' In Gus Van Sant Produced Biopic of Michael Glatze

Page Six broke the news that James Franco will continue his career’s gay tendencies with a new project, announcing: “James Franco to play gay activist in Gus Van Sant movie.”

But in true Page Six tradition, the title is a little misleading. This new film sure ain’t “Milk 2.” First of all, it’s not quite a Gus Van Sant movie. Van Sant is producing, while newcomer Justin Kelly is directing. More over, Franco’s playing an ex-gay activist. Based on Benoit Denizet-Lewis’s 2011 New York Times article “My Ex-Gay Friend,” the film will tackle the true story of Michael Glatze, a San Francisco gay activist who somehow evolved himself into an ex-gay Christian fundamentalist.

Should definitely prove interesting, to say the least… Production begins in July.
