Project of the Day: ‘Stones We Throw’

Project of the Day: 'Stones We Throw'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“Stones We Throw”

Tweetable Logline: Young budding comedian, Carolina Davis, tries to balance the stress of her family life and her personal life while attending college

Elevator Pitch: Think Lena Dunham meets Jerry Seinfeld meets awkward family life that keeps evolving. Our film showcases a lot of unique voices that are often not represented in our media such as mental illness, LGBTQA rights, women’s rights and alternative family structures. It follows the story of a female comedian who is struggling with her identity and her long distanced relationship while she attends college and is a coming of age tale that will hopefully leave you feeling either inspired or really uncomfortable…we hope both.

Production Team:

Director/Writer/Editor/”Carolina”- Stephanie Wain
Assistant Director- Abby Jackson
Director of Photography- J. Barclay Walsh
Production Assistant – Jeff Gualtieri
Cast Member, “Maureen”- Kathleen Warner
Cast Member, “Peter”- Peter Malmquist
Cast Member, “Nadine”- Rachel Brown
Cast Member, “Michael”- Will Batchelor
Cast Member, “Danny”- Laura Elizabeth Dromerick
Cast Member, “Mom”- Melissa Clarke
Cast Member, “Dad”- Randy Wain
Cast Member, “Aaron”- David O’Hara

About the Production: This film encompasses a lot of experiences I’ve had as a female comedian in college and I’ve written a lot of the film based off of my own life. Completing this film as my first feature movie would be a dream I would like to have realized. There are a lot of barriers keeping female directors out of these types of roles and I would like to have the opportunity to push back against those statistics by completing this film.

Current Status: Post-production.

I would love to see this film. I am looking forward to seeing how the problems covered in this film are addressed. What better way to look at something "uncomfortable" than through a comedian's eyes?

Stephanie Wain is a brilliant film student in her senior year at Penn State. She assembled a talented and highly motivated production team and cast to make this film with little to no funding. There is much anticipation to see the final cut of this film.
