Rare Original Animation and Golden Book Art Being Sold

Rare Original Animation and Golden Book Art Being Sold

I’ve been a longtime fan of Western Publishing’s Little Golden Books – particularly from the 1950s and 60s. We all grew up on them and the images from their pages are burned into our memory banks. That’s why I’m particularly excited about this new catalog, just posted online from art dealer Mitch Itkowitz.

Itkowitz has been selling original comic book pages, movie poster art and magazine illustrations for decades at Comic Cons and out of his upstate New York gallery for decades. His latest Graphic Collectibles catalog combining Little Golden Book and Wonder Book originals, paintings from Frame Tray Puzzles and Animation Art is possibly a first of a kind. Originals of this art has been very scarce in the past… and the material Itskowitz has amassed is excellent.

Here are a few examples below – but check out the 136 page catalog yourself. There are pieces by Richard Scarry, Harvey Eisenberg, Hawley Pratt, Art Seiden, Mel Crawford, Dan Spiegle, Maurice Noble and others – as well as production art from Fleischer Studios, Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera. Even if you can’t afford any of these pieces, they’re quite a treat to look at.
