Watch: Honest Trailer For Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ Trilogy Reminds Us Why A Reboot Exists

Though stateside audiences will finally get a glimpse of Peter Parker’s latest adventures this weekend, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” has already landed overseas and we can confirm the result is less than stellar. “[A] film that kicks off the summer blockbuster season with a resounding thud” is how we phrased it, but it wasn’t long ago that we caught the take from Sam Raimi that prompted a franchise reboot in the first place, and now the folks at Honest Trailers have launched a tribute of sorts to the “Evil Dead” director’s initial trilogy.

The fake trailer cuts a wide path across the whole of Raimi’s three installments, calling them the “Godfather Trilogy” of superhero films in terms of terrific first and second films and then an abominable third. Naturally then, “Spider-Man 3” receives the largest dose of sardonic commentary as facets both annoyingly nitpicky and justly cited are featured—whether it be the narrative convenience of The Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) to the motivation of Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker, or simply the limits of nighttime visibility from Eddie Brock/Venom (Topher Grace).

So perhaps before you head out to Marc Webb’s latest installment with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, featuring far too many villains in an already-crowded tale, check out a quick reminder of how history tends to repeat itself. Watch below.

First trilogy is the best this new one sucks big time think they need to give up now!!! Bring raimi back and finish the story to the original.

These honest trailers are bullshit from sarcastic wimpy do-nothing douches. The original trilogy was great and will hold up a lot longer than than the Raimi-less hipster reboot. I like they actually tried something different in 3rd one even. (The scenes were funny with Parker dancing. Go back to your pretentious humourless "superman returns" movie you internet hipster trol). though it didnt really work as great as first 2. Tobey Maquire was Peter Parker from the comics.

The first two films are masterpiece
