Watch: Trailer For The Beatles' Restored 'A Hard Day's Night,' 50th Anniversary Re-Release Coming This Summer

“It was 50 years ago today…”: that’s both a misquote and a reference to the wrong album, but never mind, because listen up. This summer will mark half a century since the release of “A Hard Day’s Night,” the Beatles‘ first feature film and one of the most important pieces of musical cinema ever made. As well as an endlessly inventive and fun film, in which a huge amount if mileage is got out of the simple fact that it’s the Beatles playing themselves, it’s also a very modern-feeling movie, even 50 years on. If you don’t believe us, check out the new trailer here.

And why should there be a new trailer, you ask? Well, because distributor Janus Films today announced that they’ll be rereleasing the film in more than 50 American cities over the 4th of July weekend this year. Given that the other main offering that weekend is going to be “Transformers: Age Of Extinction,” we really can’t stress enough how much you should go and see Richard Lester’s brilliant slice of 60s pop culture, which still feels incredibly fresh, and which has been entirely and elaborately restored (both sound and picture) for this anniversary. Enjoy!

I feel so fortunate to have been alive all though a little child who can not help remember the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. For a little girl I was awe struck and blown away. I am also glad my Mom & Dad were cool, dad bought me the Beatles singles and albums and mom and I saw A Hard Day's Night and Help together. It is my opinion that the Beatles made magic, 4 boys from Liverpool who's legacy will live on and on!

Awesome! Is there anywhere you can go to find out in which cities, exactly, it will be playing?
