A social media campaign had recently gotten underway to urge crew to boycott work
on the film after news that the production company, Unclaimed Freight,
was going to resume production on the film this June.

parents. REFUSE to work on this show. Lets shut it down,” reads the description of the Facebook group created to boycott production of the film. More than 5,000 people have joined so far to support the cause.
Jones, 27, was killed and six other crew members were injured on February 27 during a scene being shot on a train trestle in Georgia. She was working as part of a 20-person crew from
Savannah, GA-based Meddin Studios. Directed by Randall Miller, “Midnight Rider” also stars Tyson Ritter, Wyatt Russell and
Eliza Dushku, but at this point, it remains to be seen whether the production will continue without Hurt’s involvement.
reports that the Wayne County Sheriff’s office in Georgia has turned
over the investigation into Jones’ death over to the District Attorney’s
office, who will discuss the case with state authorities before
deciding whether to pursue criminal charges.
