2014 Emmy Predictions: Best Comedy Series

2014 Emmy Predictions: Best Comedy Series

Indiewire will provide regular updates of our predictions through August 25th, when the winners will be announced.

Is this the year “Modern Family” is finally knocked off its throne? (Damn — if this were Drama Series, we could make a “Game of Thrones” joke here.) The show lost some steam in total nominations, and “Orange is the New Black,” “Veep,” and “Louie” are all riding high. Can one of these take the title?

The Mindy Project. It’s the only thing that makes me LOL these days since New Girl jumped the shark.

Silicon Valley. Again, they based their predictions from the previous winners.

My predictions for nominees (in no particular order):
The Big Bang Theory
Modern Family
Orange is the New Black

Who will win: Modern Family
Who could win: Veep, The Big Bang Theory, and Orange is the New Black
Who should win: Modern Family
Who should be here: Brooklyn Nine-Nine and How I Met Your Mother

1. Community
2. Girls
3. Modern Family
4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
5. Orange is the New Black
6. Parks and Recreation

Silicon Valley

In a Perfect World:
The Middle

modern family had a great season… it may be more traditional or people are used to it by now but it's still very very good… veep is totally the best show on tv… i think either louie and girls won't get nominated with weak seasons… b99 has a def shot… BBT has to be nominated… goldbergs i think was one f the best new series and has a shot

Of course, we all know that the best comedy on TV is It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Has been for the past decade.

I like "About a Boy." While entertaining it carries profound messages as part of a very creative and unique storyline.

Philippe's predictions:
1. Girls
2. Parks and Recreation
3. Veep
4. Looking
5. Orange is the New Black
6. Louie

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

In a Perfect World
How I Met Your Mother

I am a television critic and watched all the shows this year.

Here is my list of top ten comedies this year, numerically, from winner to tenth.

1) Veep (Sorry Modern Family, but you won't take the record.)
2) Modern Family (Yes, very sad.)
3) Girls (HBO is cuckoo with great comedies.)
4) Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Well, the odds may change.)
5) Louie (I did not enjoy this season, sorry HBO.)
6) The Big Bang Theory (This season was great.)
7) Parks and Recreations (This season was as great as lasts, but the first one was its best.)
8) Community (Is anyone paying attention?)
9) Episodes (Last years non-nomination was a laugh.)
10) Orange Is The New Black (Sometimes funny, sometimes not. It should be a drama.)

But, there are hopes for other series:

Silicon Valley
Devious Maids (If Lifetime submitted.)
Glee (This year was quite deadbeat.)

But, my hopes were off when some shows entered differently:

Fargo (Miniseries)
Drop Dead Diva (Kind of a "3/4" rating show, not entering)

my predictions are
Breaking Bad
Modern Family
Orange Is The New Black
