Conservative filmmaker and author Dinesh D’Souza entered a guilty plea yesterday to a charge that he made illegal contributions to Republican Senate candidate Wendy Long in 2012, officials said, according to Politico.

D’Souza, director of the anti-Barack Obama documentary “2016: Obama’s America,” pled guilty to a single felony count that he used straw donors to make $20,000 in contributions to Long in 2012. The charge carries a maximum prison sentence of two years, but with the plea agreement, he is likely to be sentenced to 10-16 months.

In addition to directing and producing films and writing books, D’Souza is also a frequent guest on talk shows, including “Real Time with Bill Maher” and “The Colbert Report.”
