David Tennant and Olivia Colman Both Returning for 'Broadchurch' Sequel

The casting for the second season of the Brit murder mystery hit “Broadchurch” is shaping up. Both David Tennant and Olivia Colman will be returning for the new season, reprising their roles as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller, who last season got to the bottom of the death of an 11-year-old boy, found at the base of the seaside town’s towering cliffs.

This follow-up season, which is described as “completely different” from the first, begins filming in Dorset soon. “Broadchurch” season one writer Chris Chibnall is penning.

Former Doctor Who Tennant has a lot of “Broadchurch” on his plate — he also stars in the upcoming US remake of the show, Fox’s “Gracepoint,” opposite Anna Gunn of “Breaking Bad.” It’s no wonder stateside producers scrambled at the chance to make it. “Broadchurch” was ITV’s biggest hit since “Downton Abbey,” and the most popular midweek drama in a decade.

Hardly a same main actor in different versions. Thought Gracepoint was Broadchurch's sequel.
