Thoughts From Cannes: The Power of International Sales Agents

It’s the second week of the Cannes Film Festival, and I am
pleasantly surprised. I came here to write about International Sales Agents
(ISA’s) for SydneysBuzz, and it’s been an incredible exploration. When Sydney
first asked me to interview ISA’s, I didn’t know how I could make it
interesting. Now that I’ve listened to the perspectives of nearly 20 different agents, I can say that
I’m hooked on this part of the business and will continue to post all of the twenty
something interviews from the festival over the following weeks. 

As for the International Sales Agents, this is my message
for you. Consider it a reminder; your work and assistance to filmmakers is
extremely important – beyond the numbers and business – because you’re helping
these artists and visionaries to share their stories with the world. Sometimes
we forget the significance of this; my global travels have brought me to many
places where the freedom to share through story doesn’t always exist. I hope
this power continues to inspire you to represent the films that encourage individual and collective growth in all ways and films that challenge humanity to evolve into something more.
