TV TRAILER: “Star Wars Rebels”

TV TRAILER: "Star Wars Rebels"

While the world watches and waits for the next installment of the big screen Star Wars saga, the “rebellion” actually begins today when the trailer for the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels makes its global, multi platform debut.

Today is “Star Wars Day” — also known as “May the 4th Be With You” — the unofficial fan-driven holiday celebrating Star WarsDisney XD will feature this new Star Wars Rebels trailer (embed below) during its premiere tonight of LEGO’s Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles at 7:00 p.m., ET/PT.

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures.   It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world.  As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.  The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

Scheduled to premiere in the fall as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world. Dave Filoni, Simon Kinburg and Greg Weisman are the executive producers.

Amazing living plastic hair !

There is no originality to this. Look at the characters: you've got a Chewbacca variant, a Han who's a Jedi, a Luke, a Leia in her Boushh costume, a female Twi'lek who's smirking so she's probably another Han or a Lando, and an R2-D2 variant. These aren't classic archetypes – this is a committee project playing it safe with the Star Wars random plot generator. This has been the state of the expanded universe for twenty years. The Marvel series and spinoffs from that era felt more like the original film trilogy than anything that came after because unlike tired projects like Star Wars Rebels, Marvel borrowed from scifi serials and pulps and took chances rather than playing it safe like a Star Wars RPG module.

So the guy from Tangled is in this?

Like any other thing on Disney XD… just crap.
