Watch: Two New Clips from 'Clouds of Sils Maria' with Kristen Stewart and Juliette Binoche

Screening near the end of the Cannes Film Festival in order to accommodate its stars’s schedules, Olivier Assayas’ “Clouds of Sils Maria” has released two new clips. Starring Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche along with Kristen Stewart and Chloe Grace Moretz, “Clouds of Sils Maria” is about “the confrontation between the past and present of a landscape that appeared as an ideal setting for a comedy – or drama, depending on the perspective one chooses – of an actress diving into the abyss of time, either out of professional or moral obligation, rather than desire,” according to Assayas’ director’s statement.

Binoche plays the aging actress, Maria Enders, who, in the first clip, discusses acting with her assistant played by Stewart. The clip introduces her competition, the more youthful but also more shallow Hollywood starlet played by Moretz. Pairing the up-and-coming Moretz with the seasoned Binoche adds meaning and depth to the film and that is evident as the elder actress recites old stories to her youthful counterpart.

“Clouds of Sils Maria” looks to be the highlight of the last leg of the festival. Assayas’ previous films include Criterion title “Summer Hours,” also starring Binoche, and “Something in the Air,” which competed at Venice in 2012.

Will it be in the $1 bin or the sleep medicine aisle? KStew is the worst actress of her generation. Chloe Moretz isn't far behind. Juliette Binoche should never ever ever do English speaking movies.

Kristen Stewart is the worst actress. She is so bad in all of the films she is in, this looks to be no exception. Chloe Mortez reminds me of Kristen, Hopefully Mortez will improve over the years, she's still so young. And Juilette is good in French speaking films. In these clips her accent jumps from American to French, Very strange that the director didnt cut or retake those faults.

Emma Stone should have been cast as Valentine. Kstewart is the worst actress of her generation

Why is Assayas working with horrible actress's here? Juilette's accent goes from American to French, Olivier should have made this movie in French with Juliette. Her performance would be so much better and there would be no Mortez and Kstew

The sypnosis sounds alright, it's filmed in a nice location and Assasays knows what he is doing, no unfortunately Kristen Stewart is in it, and judging by the pics quite a lot. Very disappointing to see a bad Actress is going to whreck what probably would have been a good film. Am I jumping the gun? No, I don't think so. She has proven to be terrible in indie films. So disappointed in the casting.

Michael based on your preconceived notions on how this movie is going to turn out, no matter the outcome you will find fault with it. Manly with Stewart. Go back a re-read what DGA wrote. She said that Binoche and Stewart have a similar philosophy to acting. That's not necessarily a comparison. No need to be offended on behalf of Binoche as she was willing and did work with Stewart on this movie. If she had issues with the casting changes could have been made.

My understanding is that Wasikowska left to film Carol not Map to the Stars. I too have read reviews for Map to the Stars and some called her "always wooden Wasikowska" (which I thought was harsh).

Either way Assayas is very consistent in producing quality films. Which is just as important as the actors that play in them.

Michael /@DGA - Reply not working

I am offended on behalf of Binoche that you compare her acting to that of Stewart's. I am not a huge fan of Ms Wasikowska, but do consider her a step up from Stewart. Was she dropped for Stewart?. I did note that she was at Cannes with Cronenbergs new film, and read it is getting good reviews. I'd speculate that she dropped out for that film.

Juliette is an incredible actress but not at her best in English speaking roles. Assayas and her are proven to have worked well together before, and he is one of the best. This film has potential if not for Stewarts and Mortez's presence, in these clips it is clear to me that neither is on the same level as Juliette, Stewart imperticular. Casting will let this film down, heavily.

The two clips look good, specially the one with Juliette Binoche and Stewart. Can't wait for this movie
