Who Should Play Elvis in the New Biopic to Be Directed by Baz Luhrmann? (CLIPS)

Baz Luhrmann’s films are larger than life, flamboyant to the nines, and heavily music-oriented in one way or another (he loves his soundtracks) so it makes total sense that he’d be lining up an Elvis Presley biopic as his next project.

It’s coming together over at Warner Bros. — and yes, they have the rights to the music. Go-to screenwriter Kelly Marcel (“Fifty Shades of Grey”) is penning the original script.

So the question remains: Who should play the King? Is it better to go with an unknown on this one? It might be hard marrying the iconic mug of Elvis with someone whose face is already well-known on the big screen–although Kurt Russell is among those who have done a good job with the hip-swiveling rock icon. In his own films, Presley’s strength was the musical numbers.

Just as long as it's not Leonardo DiCaprio!

More importantly, who's gonna play Ann-Margret and Nancy Sinatra? And Shelley Fabares?

I would love to see this movie chronicling the making of CHANGE OF HABIT, in which Mary Tyler Moore was Elvis' co-star.

I have a new idea: have the same actress play every one of his leading ladies, but just change hairstyle, makeup, costumes for each one. Who's versatile enough to do that these days?

Actually, I think Jennifer Lawrence is the best choice to play Elvis.

This should be Tom Hardy too ( think Rocket man…), just because he OWNS that kind of brooding, sexy feeling! And he can act!!
