The series launched with episodes featuring filmmaker Tina Gordon Chism, entertainer Patton Oswalt, and a look into the filmgoing experience of the blind.

Of interest to our readers, a new episode featuring filmmaker Ava DuVernay has been released today, where the writer-director explains her process of discovering new stories and nurturing creative energy.

So great to see a black female director doing her thang outside the studio system. I wish her all the best with her projects.

One of the reasons I love Ava is the fact that she SHARES her creative process! Not just this video for The Academy, in other things I've read, seen and heard from her. If you haven't, you really need to check out her podcasts through AFFRM "THE CALL-IN". She not only reveals her creative process, but gets other directors to do so as well. Great stuff!

Beautiful dreadlocked woman doin her thing!

While profiling her creative process is great, I would rather hear about her marketing and business sense.
