It was a fairly quiet week for release schedule changes until Thursday came and Universal made its three changes and Paramount slotted “Selma” into this Christmas.

SELMA—PARAMOUNT—IN 12/25/14
Ava Duvernay’s look at the civil rights marches of the 1960’s from Plan B and Harpo will get a Christmas release, just in time for Oscar season.  David Oyelowo (“Jack Reacher”) stars as Martin Luther King, Jr along with Giovanni Ribisi, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Roth and Dylan Baker.

PACIFIC RIM 2—UNIVERSAL—IN 4/7/17
The next chapter in the Guillermo del Toro saga opens versus Fox’s animated “Ferdinand”

AS ABOVE/SO BELOW—IN 8/29/14   OUT 8/15/14
Universal’s horror/thriller, which takes place in the catacombs of Paris, moves away from “Expendables 3”, “The Giver” and Fox’s “Let’s Be Cops” and onto a more friendly release date

THE LOFT—IN TBA—OUT 8/29/14
James Marsden, Karl Urban thriller vacates the premises of August 29th and onto the dreaded TBA date

THE HOMESMAN—SABAN/ROADSIDE—IN 11/7/14
Tommy Lee Jones directed western gets a distributor and release date.
