Digital Comic Series 'Watson & Holmes' Optioned To Be Developed Into Live Action Version

New Paradigm has signed an option to develop Watson and Holmes for live action. More news in the coming week.

The above was posted on the Facebook fan page for the digital graphic novel series “Watson & Holmes,” which is a re-envisioning of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson as African Americans living in Harlem. Watson is an Afghanistan war vet, who works in an inner-city clinic; while Holmes is a local P.I. who takes unusual cases. When one of them ends up in Watson’s emergency room, the unlikely duo strike up a partnership to find a missing girl, bumping heads along the way, as they enter a labyrinth of drugs, guns, gangs and a conspiracy that goes higher and deeper than they could have imagined.

“Watson & Holmes” comes from New Paradigm studios, who originally conceived the comic as a 4-issue digital mini-series, which is created by Brandon Perlow and Paul J. Mendoza, written by Karl Bollers and inked by Rick Leonardi.

You can buy your copy of the series via New Paradigm’s website, where you’ll find links to various digital comic vendors.

I’m unfortunately not familiar with the comic, which I learned has picked up an award or two since it debuted about 2 years ago, so can’t offer any useful commentary on it at this point. But if you are a reader, please feel free to chime in below, in the comments section, and enlighten the rest of us. I’ll add it to my very long to-read list.

No further details have been shared regarding the above announcement, so stay tuned. When I know more, so will you.
