"Godzilla" Belatedly Rocks China As World Cup Cools Down Overseas Box Office

Godzilla” finally came to the Chinese shores, even though it’s barely a hop, skip and a jump from Japan, and roared its way to $36 million this past weekend.  The country accounted for all but $2 million of the film’s total overseas gross and was good enough to drive the big green lizard to the top of the International box office, though it was hardly a runaway as both “Edge of Tomorrow” and “Maleficent” gave it a run for its money.
