Warners & Fox Now Neck And Neck For Market Share Lead

Thanks to Dreamworks’ Dragon, a few X-Men, and faulty stars, Fox has now moved into a virtual tie with Warners for box office market share supremacy.  In fact, if the weekend estimates hold up, Fox has actually taken over top spot from the Boys From Burbank.  It’s now also become a two horse race for third position with Sony, based on successive weeks atop the box office, all of a sudden giving Disney all it can handle and will continue to do so throughout the next several weeks.  Here’s how it looks based on this weekend’s estimates, along with upcoming titles:

1)   FOX—$848 MILLION (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes)
2)   WARNER BROTHERS—$846 MILLION (Tammy)
3)   BUENA VISTA—$775 MILLION (Planes: Fire And Rescue)
4)   SONY—$737 MILLION (Deliver Us From Evil, Sex Tape)
5)   UNIVERSAL—$584 MILLION (Purge: Anarchy, Lucy)
6)   PARAMOUNT—$322 MILLION (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Hercules)
7)   LIONSGATE—$322 MILLION (Step Up: All In)
8)   OPEN ROAD—$110 MILLION (The Fluffy Movie)
9)   FOX SEARCHLIGHT—$87 MILLION (I Origins)
10) RELATIVITY—$80 MILLION (Earth To Echo)
