When Harmony Korine broke out with the micro-budget oddity “Gummo” in 1997, few probably predicted he’d land where we find him today: as the helmer behind a new, hypnotic ad for Dior’s latest fragrance, “Addict.”
The “Spring Breakers” director has directed his fair share of ads before for the likes of the rum brand Havana Club and Budweiser, but we’re guessing none of those gigs afforded Korine the budget he got to play with on the “Addict” promo. The stunning one-minute spot is unmistakably a Korine joint, with its bright colors, youthful/rebellious spirit and music courtesy of Die Antwoord, a South African rap group Korine previously collaborated with.
