Every year I approach the trip to Comic-Con in San Diego with equal measures of anticipation and dread. Why? It’s huge, crowded, stressful and crammed with the best and worst of pop culture. I talk about it with Indiewire critic Eric Kohn on our weekly podcast, sitting cross-legged on the floor outside Hall H between panels with my laptop, holding my snowball mic. It’s a shorter podcast than usual as I had to run into the next panel, Paramount–where Chris Nolan and Matthew McConaughey made their first visit, a surprise, to the Con. Report here.
And yes I know that both "Penguins of Madagascar" and "How to Train Your Dragon 2" are sequels–and some animated sequels do well at the Oscars. It depends. "Toy Story 3" did well, obviously.
