Incessantly working to create a sustainable and modern film industry in the Caribbean, the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival (ttff) has become the prime event of its kind in the region. Returning this fall, the festival is already reaching out to audiences and industry professionals to participate in different capacities during the cinematic festivities to take place in the island nation September 16–30, 2014.

Here are several news updates for its upcoming 9th edition

Call for Volunteers for ttff/2014

If you love film and you want to be involved in an exciting and young film festival, then volunteering at the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival might be a great opportunity for you. The ninth edition of the ttff runs from September 16–30, 2014. The festival is looking for people of all ages who are passionate about building a vibrant Caribbean film industry. You’ll get a chance to meet filmmakers and other film
industry professionals from the region and around the world.

Recognizing Human Rights Through Film

Amnesty International and ttff Sign Partnership Agreement

In an effort to strengthen the human rights culture in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean, Amnesty International and the ttff have established the Amnesty International Human Rights Prize. The award will be presented annually to the maker of a Caribbean film in the Festival that best
highlights a human rights issue. The inaugural prize will be handed out at the ttff/14.

Final Reminder for Call for Applications for RBC Focus: Filmmakers’ Immersion


Filmmakers! The call for applications for our annual RBC Focus: Filmmakers’ Immersion has been extended to Tuesday 15 July

, so hurry and get your applications in now! If you’re a Caribbean or diaspora filmmaker with a narrative feature film project in development, you’re
invited to apply. This exciting initiative provides ten selected participants with the opportunity to learn from internationally respected filmmakers and
other film professionals. All participants also get the chance to pitch their project to a jury, with one person walking away with a cash prize of
TT$20,000. RBC Focus takes place in Trinidad from 23–27 September 2014, during ttff/14 (16–30 September).
