Attention Filmmakers: AFI Directing Workshop for Women Launches Episodic Directing Program

The American Film Institute has announced that it is launching an episodic component to its prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women, a groundbreaking discovery and development program that is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Episodic participants will produce content for the web and streaming services alongside the participants of the program’s flagship shorts program.

The Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation will support a single participant, who, care of AFI’s press release, “will support an individual participant who embodies a diverse voice.”

Pat Atkinson

I have been a member of the independent filmmaking community since 2007 and have spearheaded my own production company, ‘Bad Influence Cinema’ since 2009. I am a writer, director, producer, camera op/AC, and actress/fight choreographer and stunt person throughout the last 7+ years. I am currently the only female fight choreographer/stunt person in the state of Iowa that I am aware of, and have recently joined a group of medieval fighters/stunt persons that I am aware of. I am predominately a writer and pursue stories of women of all walks of life, experiences, races and opinions. I have survived clinical death at least 4 times in my existence and I am afraid of nothing.
