Clint Eastwood & Bradley Cooper's 'American Sniper' Enters Oscar Race With Xmas Release

With this year’s Oscar season already rolling, Warner Bros. have revealed one more movie they’re hoping can bring the gold.  The Clint Eastwood directed, Bradley Cooper starring "American Sniper" has now been slated for a Christmas Day limited release before going wide on January 16, 2015.

The drama certainly looks worthy on paper, telling the true story of Chris Kyle, a sniper who bagged the most kills in Army history, but who struggled with the strain his record put on his marriage and home life. It’s been awhile since Eastwood has delivered anything of Oscar calibre, so we’ll see if he can bring the skills to pay the awards season bills.

In other WB release news, the studio has pushed back Guy Ritchie‘s "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." from January 16, 2015 to August 14, 2015. Meanwhile, "Point Break" will drop on July 31, 2015 instead of August 7, 2015. The studio has also set two untitled horror flicks for January 29, 2016 and September 9, 2016.

While he did have more kills than any sniper in Army history, he was in the Navy. He achieved the, slightly, more impressive goal of having more kills than any sniper in the history of the American military.

Sure hope it's better than Jersey Boys

I wonder if one of the untitled horror films is "The Overlook Hotel".
