Henry Simmons Will Become an 'Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.' for the ABC-Marvel Series

Henry Simmons has landed a recurring role in what will be the second season of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Simmons will play an Agent Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie.

In the comics, Alphonso MacKenzie (known simply as ‘Al’ or ‘Mac’ to his friends) is actually an older white man, based on what my research tells me. He’s described as straight-talking and down-to-earth, serving as the C.I.A. liaison to S.H.I.E.L.D., known for his interrogation skills.

Season 2 of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” begins on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 9/8c.

Simmons will next be seen on the big screen in Sony/Screen Gems’ Will Packer-produced thriller “No Good Deed,” which stars Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson.

As a fan of NYPD Blue I thought Simmons did a good job when he was on the show. I expected him to have a bigger career after the show went off the air, but such is Hollywood.

His character was a sexual black man on the show which we rarely see. He even got in some nudity on the show. I don't care about the male nudity, but if all the white guys on the show are hopping in and out beds with the nudity let the brothers get in. He DID have a relationship on the show with GARCELLE BEAUVAIS so that was #winning!

Back to his acting, he was really good on the show and I thought after the show he would have been a great black superhero. At 6'4" I thought he would make a great LUKE CAGE or something like that. Alas he's generally too old now.

Again, such is Hollywood.
