He might have lost that Emmy, but “The Normal Heart” director Ryan Murphy is helping Matt Bomer out with a consolation prize of sorts: He’s joining the cast of “American Horror Story: Freak Show” — at least for an episode or two.
“I try to get him to do everything for me,” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. “I sent him a text that said, ‘First right of refusal, here’s the role.’ It’s very…warped.”
Murphy also said he had to work around Bomer’s schedule filming “Magic Mike 2” in order to make the appearance work.
The show — which won Emmys for Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates last night — will head to 1950s Florida this time around, with Emmy nominees Lange, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy and Bates all back for another round. It centers around of freak show performers, with Lange playing their ringleader. It premieres October 8th.
