The film follows Charu, a young woman sharing an apartment with some friends in Mumbai. When an undocumented worker collapses after arriving to paint the apartment, Charu must search the streets of Mumbai to find his identity.
Since its first viewings, “I.D” has won nine festival awards and will soon play at the Zurich Film Festival. The acquisition is the latest for Dark Frames, which is focusing on independent movies produced in India which explore notions of identity and “unfreedom” in human life.
A U.S. release date has yet to be announced.
