By the title alone, last year’s “The World’s End” indicated a finale, with the trio of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost putting their Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy to rest. But that hardly means the longtime friends are done working together: It appears that a new project is already developing.
Recently, Pegg stopped by BBC 6 Music (via Digital Spy) and mentioned that the three will reunite in a movie, although not immediately. “Edgar and I were having a conversation the other day about it, and it has a title and everything. We’re kind of into a creative cycle now,” he said. “We’ve all got different things [going] on and we know we have to get those things done. The coming-together thing is without question on the table and will happen when we can do it.”
Pegg hopes the trio can work at the same pace as before. “When we said the trilogy was over, it was because that group of films was over. They’re all kind of related with each other and deal with a specific idea. There’s a criteria to those films,” the actor explained. “The next thing we do won’t do that, it will just be something else. It will happen. We made three films in ten years and hopefully in the next decade, we’ll make another three.”
But with Wright working on “Baby Driver” next, his reunion with Pegg and Frost will have to wait. Until then, fans can take a step back in time. Pegg recently revealed on Twitter that he and Frost are reprising their roles from “Shaun Of The Dead” for a Halloween episode of Disney XD animated show “Phineas And Ferb.” Will the kids even the get the reference?
