Leave it to the patriarchy to force a woman to choose between her family and her career! In all seriousness, that seems to be the premise behind Eric Poppe’s “1,000 Times Goodnight,” which stars Juliette Binoche and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
Binoche plays Rebecca, one of the world’s top war photographers who is injured while photographing a female suicide bomber in Kabul. Her husband (Coster-Waldau) and young daughters give her an ultimatum: her work or her family.
Director and co-writer Poppe was a conflict photographer for many years and brings his years of experience to this gritty portrayal of photojournalism.
Check out the trailer below. Distributed by Film Movement, “1,000 Times Goodnight” opens in New York and Los Angeles on Oct 24 and and will simultaneously be available nationwide On Demand on all major cable, satellite and digital providers.
