Watch: The Promising Trailer For TIFF's Queer Dark Comedy 'Guidance'

Yesterday the Toronto International Film Festival announced their Canadian programming, including the feature film debut of Pat Mills, who writes, directs and stars in “Guidance” — screening in TIFF’s Discovery program. Mills has been at the festival before with his short films (which we’re big fans of), and we’re excited to see what’s in store with his first feature, which the festival describes as the story of a closeted, alcoholic former child actor who fakes his résumé and gets a job as a high-school guidance counsellor, where he thrives while giving bad advice. The film’s freshly released trailer certainly makes good on our hopes, suggesting “Guidance” could be a strange and fun new entry into the high school dark comedy canon:
