Watch: Trailer For Michael Apted's Love Letter To Photography 'Bending The Light'

Whenever film buffs hear the words "Michael Apted" and "documentary" together, they think of his groundbreaking "Up" series, where he has revisited the same group of people every seven years for the past fifty years now. The bad news is that "56 Up" was only two years ago, so we still have to wait five years for "63 Up." The good news is that you can watch the trailer for Apted’s new documentary "Bending The Light" right now.

What looks to be a tender love letter to photography and every camera’s “heart” or  lens, "Bending the Light" examines the lives of perfectionist artisans in Japan who build the lenses, and the photographers who use them to capture the many fascinating facets of the human condition. The trailer is beautiful and engaging, comprised mostly of still pictures taken using the ubiquitous lens. The film premiered on August 3rd at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival. If you’re also looking to catch up on Apted’s recent fiction work, check out his recent gig on Showtime‘s "Masters of Sex." [Deadline]
