Wim Wenders, the acclaimed German director behind films such as "Paris, Texas" and "Wings of Desire" will be awarded an Honorary Golden Bear at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival for his longtime work in the industry. In addition to an homage to his work, his masterpiece "Wings of Desire" will be screened at the legendary Berlinale Palast.
Starting out, Wenders was part of a group of filmmakers who influenced the "New German Cinema" movement. Today, with over 50 films under his belt, he remains highly regarded for his innovative mind and departure from the conventional.
Ten Wenders films will make up the homage: His most recent film, the documentary "The Salt of the Earth," won a Special Prize at the 2014 Cannes Festival.
The Berlin International Film will open on February 15, 2015.
