Filming won’t begin until next spring, and the movie won’t hit theaters until 2016, but 20th Century Fox is starting the ball rolling very, very, very early on “X-Men: Apocalypse.” And that said promotion happens to coincide with the upcoming release of “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” on home video is probably not a coincidence. Welcome to Movie Marketing in the early 21st Century 101, folks. But we will say we do like the care and effort that went into this four minute viral video.
Running like a truther documentary you might stumble across on YouTube, this clip gathers up a bunch of scientist types to ruminate on the next stage of human evolution….in other words, mutants. But of course it doesn’t take very long until talk turns to the threat humanity faces when the next development in the evolutionary chain comes along. This has been the persistent thread of the X-Men movies, so why stop now?
There are many more questions to be answered by the upcoming franchise entry, now that an entirely new timeline can be set up after ‘Future Past’ threw the existing chronology out. Anyway, lots to speculate about. ‘Days Of Future Past’ hits the format of your choice on October 14th (or wait until the extended cut arrives next year). “X-Men: Apocalypse” arrives on May 27, 2016.
