Watch: Julianne Moore and Kristen Stewart Have a Heart-to-Heart in 'Still Alice'

Directing duo Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland (“The Last of Robin Hood,” “Quinceañera”) return again with a film centered around a parent fighting against the inevitability of Alzheimer’s disease and the bond that flourishes between her and her youngest daughter (as portrayed by Kristen Stewart).

The film saw its premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival on September 8.

The official synopsis from TIFF reads: “A successful Columbia University professor (Julianne Moore) struggles to maintain her mind and self after being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s, in this adaptation of the Lisa Genova novel co-starring Kristen Stewart, Alec Baldwin and Kate Bosworth.”

I think this clip is representative of the whole film — it’s all about Julianne, with the supporting cast just existing so she has someone to talk to. Of course they are affected by what she’s going through, but it’s really all about her. For the supporting cast to be recognized, they really have to be exceptional, not just "there." I know Sony is beating the bushes, trying to drum up some interest in this film besides Moore’s performance, but I think they’re going to come up empty. The supporting casts in other films this year truly shine, so I think Moore will be the sole nomination, and I’m not so sure she has a lock on winning. It will depend on how the film as a whole is received.
