Attn Filmmakers From Africa, Latin America: Cinémas du Monde Seeks Projects for Cannes 2015 Initiative (Deadline: Dec 8)

The Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde is an initiative of the Cinémas du Monde pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival, which takes place each year, and is aimed at helping talented filmmakers who are at the beginning of their careers, to develop their first of second feature films.

The Cinémas du Monde pavilion is a venue dedicated to filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern and Central Europe, and the Middle East.

The Fabrique aims to facilitate selected participants’ access to different activities at the Cannes Film Festival, and supports selected projects via individual and group meetings with key players from the film industry.

The Fabrique is calling for applications for its 2015 edition to allow selected directors (and their producers) to attend the next Cannes Film Festival, which takes place from May 13 to 24, 2015.

The following film projects are eligible:

  • Film projects whose director comes from one of the eligible regions
  • The project must be the director’s first or second feature-length film or documentary.
  • Film projects with a local producer (or a producer from one of the eligible countries) who has produced a short film or feature film within the last five years
  • Fiction or documentary film projects, but not a film project for television
  • The film’s provisional budget must be less than €3 million (about $3.8 million)
