Mel Gibson and Will Smith couldn’t make it happen, but it looks like Ben Affleck can. The world’s next Batman, and this weekend’s murder suspect in David Fincher‘s “Gone Girl,” is looking to book one more acting gig before he gets back behind the camera to direct “Live By Night.”
Variety reports that Affleck is in negotiations to star in “The Accountant.” The 2011 Black List script by Bill Dubuque (Robert Downey Jr.‘s forthcoming “The Judge“), tells the story of a brilliant, autistic accountant at the Treasury Department who doubles as an assassin. There’s no director attached at the moment, but apparently Gavin O’Connor (“Warrior,” “Jane Got A Gun“) is the “top choice” though he has no offer just yet.
So, Affleck would wrap his work on “Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice,” bounce over to “The Accountant” and then direct “Live By Night” starting next summer. Sounds like a plan to us. Until then, here’s the latest clip from “Gone Girl,” along with a TV spot.
