Chiwetel Ejiofor Adds to Growing Film Slate - Joins Cast of Ridley Scott's Sci-Fi Thriller 'The Martian'
Chiwetel Ejiofor has joined Matt Damon, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Jessica Chastain and Donald Glover in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi thriller “The Martian.”
Damon will star, playing an astronaut who is stranded on Mars solo, and must learn to adapt and survive, while he waits for a rescue mission from earth, led by Chastain.
No word on what role exactly that Ejiofor has signed up for. But we do know that Glover will play a character described as a bright young NASA employee in the 20th Century Fox project.
“The Martian” is set to hit theaters in November 2015.
Ejiofor, who was nominated for an Oscar for his 2013 performance in “12 Years A Slave,” was most recently seen in Biyi Bandele’s “Half Of A Yellow Sun” – a film adaptation of celebrated author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Orange Prize-winning novel of the same name. He also co-stars in John Hillcoat’s crime thriller “Triple Nine,” which will be out in 2015, and is shooting “The Secret In Their Eyes,” the Warner Brothers remake of the Oscar-winning Argentine crime thriller which was directed by Juan José Campanella.
