Today IFC Center kicked off its inaugural New York Super Week, a series of special events leading up to New York’s Comic Con. The theater’s program will run from Friday, October 3-Sunday, October 12 and will feature sneak previews of new movies and revivals of action, animated and genre
classics, as well as special appearances by filmmakers and creators.
The lineup is full of geeky goodies, among them the New York premieres of both Studio Ghibli’s “The Tale of Princess Kaguya” (2014) and Dan Harmon’s “Harmontown,” (2014) with Harmon present, as well as a special screening of the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975) presented by Susan Sarandon and Baz Luhrmann.
There will be sneak previews of three new films from the IFC Midnight label, including “Extraterrestrial” with filmmakers “The Vicious Brothers” and stars Michael Ironiside and Brittany Allen in person; a special advance screening of “Young Ones” with director Jake Paltrow and stars Nicholas Hoult and Kodi Smit-McPhee; the New York premiere of the complete, uncensored director’s cut of Lars Von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac” and much more.
