Kickstart This: Dystopian Gangland Anime Series 'Urbance' (6 Days Left, 35% to Go)

6 days and 65% of the campaign’s goal raised! Oh-so close… maybe you’ll be encouraged to chip in? Recap below…

A quick recap, given that it’s a project previously highlighted on this blog… from Steambot Studios comes the animated work “Urbance,” which I profiled in January of 2013, and haven’t posted any updates since then, because, well, there haven’t really been any, except for the proposed series competing at the TAAFI Animation Festival in Toronto, in July 2013..

At the time of my last post, plans were for it to eventually become a TV series, but that hasn’t happened yet. While they’ve been working on the project for over 3 years, there’s still much to be done, and, most importantly, money to be raised – which is where you come in.

The “Urbance” synopsis reads:

In the big city, gender war rises. Sex is prohibited because of a genetic deadly virus. Ruled by hate and anger, boys and girls grow up apart from each other, forming rivals gangs. Among these lost teenagers, Kenzell and lesya will fight adversity and defy all the rules in order to live their love and restore peace.

As I recall, a lot of you were definitely intrigued by what you saw in that January 2013 post, introducing you to the project, so if it’s something you’d like to see brought to life as a TV series, here’s your chance to help make that happen.

The goal is to raise $189,000 to shoot a “kick-ass” pilot episode for the series; and with 44 days still to go in the Kickstarter campaign, $34,000 has already been raised, which is certainly a very good start, and bodes well for the rest of the campaign and meeting its goal.

Watch the video pitch from the creators below, which also includes footage from the proposed series. And click within the widget underneath to head over to the project’s Kickstarter page to make a contribution.
