Magnet Releasing Picks Up World Rights to Horror Anthology ‘XX’

Magnet Releasing Picks Up World Rights to Horror Anthology 'XX'

Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, has announced it is fully financing and acquiring worldwide distribution rights to “XX,” an ambitious new horror anthology film featuring all female directors and female leads. XYZ Films (“Tusk”) will produce.

Although plot details remain under wraps, the horror short films in “XX” will be directed by Karyn Kusama (“Jennifer’s Body), Mary Harron (“American Psycho”), Jennifer Lynch (“Surveillance”) and Jovana Vuckovic (“The Captured Bird”). In an enticing bit of news, the directors have all been given free creative rein within budget and time constraints, with the only rule being that the segments themselves must involve the horror genre.

“Magnet has been the home to the most exciting anthology horror films of the last several years, and we’re very pleased to continue the trend with ‘XX,'” claimed Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “We’re especially excited about the caliber of filmmakers involved with this anthology, and the fresh approach that it’s taking to the horror genre”

No release date for the film has been set, but filming on “XX” will be completed in 2015.
