Project of the Day: 'Born Again Dead'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Born Again Dead

Tweetable Logline: A tormented man loses his grip on reality as horrific dreams force him to face his past and lead him to an unspeakable discovery.

Elevator Pitch: Clive moves to his wife’s hometown of New Orleans for her academic career. He struggles with alcoholism, and has a difficult time adjusting to his new environment. Soon, Clive’s marriage crumbles. But, after a chance encounter with an old friend, Clive follows him to a cabin in the backwoods of Louisiana for a little distance from his wife. Once there, horrific dreams force Clive to face his past, while mounting paranoia about the sudden arrival of a few new houseguests who may or may not be cult members, leads him into violence.

Production Team:

Jowan Carbin – Writer / Director / Executive producer
Carol Bidault de l’Isle – Producer
Sandy Parker – Associate Producer

About the film: I had moved to New Orleans and developed a major case of writer’s block. Whenever I would leave my home office, I noticed that I had developed a disdain for my new city. Here I am in one of the most wonderful cities in the world, and I just couldn’t see it. Then one day, a news segment on the Sandy Hook shooting got me thinking about not only that tragedy, but the Aurora Theatre shooting, and the Columbine Massacre. “Perception creates reality” I decided would be the theme for a new screenplay-a psychological thriller entitled “Born Again Dead.”

Current Status: Fundraising and gearing up for casting.
